This year we embarked on a journey to build a new shop and move out of our basement! I can’t tell you how excited we are to get half of our house back!
We did all of the work ourselves once the shell of the building was put up by a local contractor. It was a huge feat since we really didn’t know what we were doing but fake it until you make it, am I right? It gave us a lot of chances to learn and I think overall it’s going to be a great space to work in. We will be releasing several post/videos along the way to share what’s going on and to pass on what we have learned. Make sure to follow our new YouTube Channel for updates!
Shop Size: 30’x44′ 1320 sp ft
Finishing room size: 15×15
The only other thing that we didn’t do ourselves was run the electric to the shop. We wanted to make sure it was done right and in the spring we will look at getting water run as well so we can have a sink in the shop to clean tools. It was extremely rewarding and overwhelming to do everything ourselves, but it allowed us to save on labor and invest into a few new tools. Overall everything went well, aside from each task taking longer than expected, we didn’t run into any major issues and we’re so excited to finally get in the shop!
We hope to be moved in and building before the end of the year! All of our new tools are ordered and on their way, stay tuned for more shop updates! Please comment below with topics you’d like us to hit on revolving around the shop for future content!
