Guys! We can’t hold in our excitement any longer… There’s something new and exciting coming to the Two Moose shop! The new Onefintiy CNC should arrive at our shop in a few weeks and we CANT WAIT! We currently have an Inventables X-Carve 1000mm CNC and it has been great to us over the last few years, we haven’t had any major issues and feel its great entry-level machine… although it has been reliable it can be limited in what it can do and on paper the new Onefinity essentially fixed all those small issues.
The X-carve is operated by belts which can be sloppy and need to be adjusted, whereas the Onefinity CNC is operated by ball screw standard and has hardened steel linear shafts on all axis which is a huge upgrade. Another downfall is the X-carve needs to be connected to the internet to operate which isn’t an issue for us since we have wifi in our shop but I could see it being a major issue for a lot of people. The rigidity of the x-carve is pretty weak compared to even the Shapeoko, just by looking at the machine you can see it’s beefier allowing you to push the machine a little faster, we’re really hoping the Onefinity blows both of them out of the water!
We were presented with the opportunity to test run one of these new machines and we said absolutely! Why would I not want to test one of the newest CNCs on the market?! We are one of the few makers online that get to test drive one of these so we’re super excited to get it to really test its limits. We are full-time woodworkers so the machine will definitely get put to use, Jess runs our current CNC weekly for the business and well, me…I pretty much just play with it. Once we have the machine we’ll show you all the pros and cons of the machine to hopefully make it clear whether you want one or not! My bet is on the Onefinity over the other two competitors in the hobbyist realm. They fixed a lot of small issues both machines had along with offering more accessories and I mean come on who doesn’t like some good add ons?
